These Mealworms are the larvae of the Tenebrio molitar beetle. Their diet is vegetarian which makes them safe to feed to wildlife. They consist of 50.4% crude protein and are suitable for insect-eating birds such as Robins, tits and House Sparrows.
Mealworms are delivered either in plastic tubs, in which they can be stored, or in sacks that need to be decanted into smaller containers.
How to store?
* Sacks should be unpacked into smaller containers as soon as they arrive.
* Mealworms can be kept for several months if they are stored at the ideal temperature of 8C to 10C and with adequate Bran or Pro-Grub Mealworm food.
* We would recommend for every 3.5cm of mealworms, 1.5cm of Bran or Pro-Grub is added, but do not exceed 5cm of food and mealworms as this could cause them to suffocate.
* After a time you may start to see a fine dust in the container, this is mealworm waste which can be removed using a sieve.
Delivery
* Live foods are despatched direct from our supplier via Royal Mail, please allow 4/5 days to arrive. During times of peak demand this may take slightly longer, but if you have not received your order after ten days please notify us.
* Orders up to 1.5kg are delivered First Class, orders over 1.5kg are delivered by courier and need to be signed for.
* Orders for live foods only do not incur a delivery charge.
