Despite spending almost four months of the year in hibernation hedgehogs are still one of the most frequently spotted garden visitors.
If you wish to encourage them, providing a plentiful supply of food will help. Traditionally fed, bread and milk, is harmful to the hedgehogs' teeth and can even cause diarrhoea and dehydration so a specialist mix like our Hedgehog Food is an excellent substitute for their usual diet of beetles, slugs, caterpillars and earthworms. Also ensure a bowl of clean water is available too.
British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS)
Set up to help and protect hedgehogs, the BHPS give advice to the public on helping hedgehogs in the wild and in gardens, especially the care of hedgehogs particularly when injured, sick, treated cruelly or orphaned.
