Feeding live foods during the breeding season can help support your local bird populations for generations to come...
...with extra mouths to feed, finding natural live food can become difficult as the season progresses when competition for natural resources increases. Having a reliable source of food near to a nest will help parent birds provide fresh, nutritious live food to their young, thus helping them raise a healthy brood.
Once fledged, having a regularly replenished source of live foods will allow parent birds to continue caring for their young without having to stray too far from newly fledged youngsters whilst looking for food.
Live foods will also be appreciated by insectivorous birds such as Wrens, Dunnocks wagtails and tits who will all find it increasingly more difficult to find soft bodied insects as the days get colder.
Why feed live food?
Live foods are extremely beneficial to a wide range of species - not just birds. As well as being important sources of protein for young birds, they are attractive and nutritious to many other garden visitors such as hedgehogs, badgers and squirrels.

In most cases live foods will be despatched with the rest of your order (where applicable) and delivered to you by our courier on our standard next day delivery service. However there may be some cases when live foods are sent by Royal Mail.
