The number and variety of birds that visit your garden can be influenced by the way that you provide food. Providing hanging bird feeders in your garden is an excellent way to feed seeds, peanuts and specialist seed mixes to the more agile species such as Blue Tits, Greenfinches and House Sparrow. We have also received reports of birds that traditionally prefer to eat from the ground or a table, including Robins and Chaffinches, eating from feeders. Our range of seed and peanut feeders offer the very best in design, suitability and safety for bird feeding. Designed with the needs of the birds in mind, these premium quality feeders are available in a number of colours, sizes and styles. They are easy to clean and maintain, helping to ensure a long life for each feeder and providing the highest standards for your birds. Introducing a NEW concept in feeder technologyFollowing the enormous success of the existing feeder range, we are proud to introduce a new concept in feeder technology. Based on the original feeder, the CJ research team has developed a design that enables birds to feed in their natural feeding position - facing forward. This is possible using the patented "Perching Ring", a unique simple and highly effective design.
When using the new feeders, our experience has shown that birds appear to be more relaxed when feeding and can access food more quickly, leaving the perching ring free for another bird much sooner - a real bonus when there are lots of hungry birds waiting their turn. Feeder Hygiene and Cleaning All CJ Wildlife feeders can be easily taken apart for regular cleaning.
Siting Birds need to feel safe when feeding. Site your feeder so as to give all-round vision to its visitors, and ideally not more than 1.8m (6 feet) from convenient cover such as trees or shrubs. If you are replacing an old feeder, leave it in place until the birds become accustomed to the new one. And remember, it can sometimes take several weeks for birds to have the confidence to start visiting a new feeder, but be careful not to let the food go stale. Foods To help attract the greatest number of birds and bird species to your feeder we recommend filling it with premium quality CJ Wildlife bird foods. See the food section for details. The CJ Wildlife Feeder RangeDiscovery - Ideal for those with small gardens or balconies, these plastic feeders are available in seed and peanut varieties and also a window feeder design. They shouldn't be used in gardens where squirrels are present. Plastic - The highest quality plastic seed and peanut feeders available, these feeders are ideal for use in gardens without squirrels. Metal - These sturdy metal feeders offer excellent resistance to squirrel damage and are available as seed or peanut feeders. Adventurer - These high capacity graphite grey metal seed feeders are the same width as the ConquerorTM but no larger in height than the regular metal and plastic feeders and offer excellent resistance to squirrel damage. ConquerorTM - The largest feeders in the range, these high-capacity silver metal seed feeders offer excellent resistance to squirrel damage. Which Feeder? Metal or Plastic? If you are likely to have squirrels visiting your garden you should opt for a metal or ConquerorTM feeder. If squirrels aren't a problem the plastic and Discovery feeders offer most of the same innovative design features but at a lower price. To help you decide each feeder is given a Squirrel Defence Rating. Peanut or Seed Feeder? There are two basic feeder designs - the wire mesh peanut feeder and the tubular seed feeder (see the diagram above). Peanut feeders prevent adult birds from feeding big pieces of peanuts to their young, and for this reason you should take care not to put peanuts in your seed feeder. As a general rule, seeds and seed mixes will attract a wider range of species to your garden. CJ Wildlife Accessories A wide range of accessories including garden poles and seed trays can be used with our feeders. See the Accessories Section. Only a limited number of accessories can be used with Discovery feeders as there is no screw thread in the base. Squirrel Defence Rating
