Solitary bees are fascinating and harmless insects that pose no threat to people or pets. They are excellent pollinators during the time that they are on the wing (from April to July in most cases) with red mason bees in particular being a hundred mores times more effective than honey bees.
As populations of honey bees and wild bumblebees decline, many fruit growers are encouraging solitary bees into their gardens or allotments to increase the amount of fruit that is set. This nest box holds 32 nesting tubes that are suitable for use by a variety of solitary bees including leaf-cutter, red and blue mason bees. We also sell red mason bee cocoons to help you to establish a local population of this UK native if natural numbers are low.
