Our feeders are designed and tested by our own team of ornithologists, which helps to make sure our feeders meet the needs of the birds, as well as the needs of our customers.
As the name suggests, the National Trust 2 Port Plastic Seed Feeder, has two feeding ports, these are designed to ensure that birds have maximum access to the food on offer. The feeder also features the simple but highly effective perching rings, these rings ensure birds can feed in their natural feeding position - facing forward. CJ Wildlife were the first company to create the perching ring for seed feeders as it was recognised that enabling birds to feed in their natural feeding position. Feeding in the position allows the birds to be able to look out for predators which increases their confidence, thus resulting in them being able to remain at the feeder for longer.
Each component of this feeder has been ergonomically designed, providing excellent performance benefits and ease of use. The feeder features an easy flow base, ports and cap, which are made from plastic, and the tube is made from UV-stabilised polycarbonate, which will not deteriorate when exposed to sunlight.
The feeder will completely dismantle for cleaning, keeping feeders clean is very important for hygiene. The feeder also has a screw thread in the base making it compatible with many of our feeder accessories including guardians and feeder trays. Feeder trays are great for collecting any waste material from the feeder as well as acting as an additional feeding and perching area for your garden birds.
Plastic feeders share many of the same features as the Metal range, but owing to the plastic rather than metal ports, bases and caps, are available at a lower cost. However plastic feeders are not recommended for use in gardens with squirrels.
The feeder is suitable for seed and seed mixes. We recommend using Bird Feeder Seed with this feeder, look out for the new National Trust Bird Feeder Seed bag sizes available on our website. The seed has been formulated specifically for clinging bird species; the mix is also free flowing which prevents clogging in feeders. Seeds and seed mixes will appeal to a wide variety of garden bird species. The wider variety of seeds on offer, the greater number of species you will attract.
This item will be beautifully packaged in National Trust branded packaging, as part of our collaboration for The Love of Nature, making it a lovely gift to give or receive as well as supporting our feathered friends.
Please note: Feeder heights shown include fully extended handle.
