Product Analyst



  • Experience of using Sage Inventory Advisor (SIA) or similar sales forecasting system
  • Experience in working with large product inventories
  • Very organised person, capable of liaising with a range of people across the business
  • Commercial understanding

Main purpose of role:

  • To take a more pro-active commercial approach to product analysis
  • To ensure more efficient product-based administration within the consumer sales channels is achieved
  • To help create the optimal product range for the consumer sales channel
  • To support the initiative to make stock levels leaner

Analyst tasks:

  • Taking action in SIA where automatic forecasts do not look right or where known impacts need acknowledging (promotions/impact of new products etc.)
  • Reviewing high stocked items and proposing promotions
  • Reviewing possible items for discontinuation and securing the necessary information/support for this decision to be made
  • Reviewing low stocked items and advising the customer service and marketing teams of suitable alternatives
  • Looking at items coming through product development and reviewing/highlighting the possible impact of them on sales of existing products
  • Recommending possible improvements to up and cross-sells for products
  • Reviewing possible gaps in our range/making suggestions
  • Reviewing sales of items similar to new lines in product development in order to help put together forecasts for the new item
  • Supporting specific requests from the teams for promotional suggestions
  • Recommending items for the catalogues

Administration tasks:

  • Managing stock statuses on all consumer websites
  • Managing all consumer market pricelists including multi-buys
  • Managing and regularly checking foreign descriptions tables in Sage
  • Conducting regular audits between items and prices on pricelists and on the web and instigating action as required
  • Co-ordinating the changeover process for products moving from a bundle onto a multi-buy and/or temporary replacement products
  • Assisting with steps needed to make products sold in one market, available for others too
  • Checking and co-ordinating missing or incorrect information such as weights and measurements
  • Resolving issues where consumer market product codes cannot be processed in Sage

Communications tasks:

  • Holding weekly meetings with each sales team leader regarding upcoming promotions and or product-related issues
  • Daily short meetings with line manager regarding current/urgent issues
  • Regular contact with finance, purchasing and customer services as required

The role is full time (8.30-5 Monday to Friday), based in Upton Magna, near Shrewsbury and reports to the Group Marketing Manager
