This ground-breaking publication is the definitive account of every species of bird that has been recorded in County Durham up until the end of 2011. It is the first full avifauna to be published since 1951 and is packed with facts and figures about all 386 species recorded to date.
This county avifauna is the result of five years of hard work from a dedicated team of editors and contributors under the auspices of the Durham Bird Club. There are five introductory chapters, but most of the book is taken up by the systematic list. Each species account begins with a concise statement of current status and a small vignette.
