WoodStone Kingfisher Tunnel

The Kingfisher WoodStone® Nest Tunnel has been specially developed to provide a safe and durable nesting site for one of the UK’s most striking birds. Made from a unique mix of concrete and wood fibres, this long-lasting material won’t rot like traditional wood and helps regulate internal temperature, giving young birds the best chance of survival.

Designed for use in river or lakeside banks, the tunnel should be completely buried with only the entrance visible, at least one metre above the maximum water level. Its sloping design aids drainage, while the solid construction offers reliable protection against predators such as woodpeckers, cats, and squirrels.

For best results, install two tunnels at least two metres apart so kingfishers can raise successive broods. Adding soil inside to form a nest cup and placing a perch nearby will further encourage breeding success.
