The distinctive apex roof offers excellent protection from the elements, while the deep internal chamber provides a secure environment for nesting adults and growing chicks. Constructed from durable exterior-grade plywood, the nest box is built to withstand year-round exposure in open countryside locations.

Designed for open farmland and woodland edges

For the best chance of success, install the nest box high on a mature tree in open farmland, along isolated hedgerows or at the edge of woodland. Position the entrance so it is clearly visible to passing barn owls, allowing them to easily locate the nesting site while hunting across surrounding fields and grassland.

Where space allows, installing a second box nearby can provide an additional roosting space for the male during the breeding season.

Practical design for monitoring and maintenance

The nest box is supplied in sections for easier installation. First secure the triangular outer shell to a suitable tree using strong coach bolts or other appropriate fixings (not included), then firmly attach the front shelf panel.

Inside, a removable nesting tray simplifies routine inspection and cleaning, helping maintain a healthy nesting environment between seasons.
