Kestrel Nest Box

Looking for an easy alternative to building a kestrel nest box from scratch? This ready-made kestrel box is designed to the ideal dimensions for safe and successful breeding.

Kestrels are cavity nesters that don’t build their own nests. Instead, they look for ledges or open spaces like old crow nests, hollow trees or even buildings.

This robust wooden bird box provides a secure, elevated space where kestrels can lay their eggs and raise chicks, with a wide entry opening and excellent visibility.

It’s made from weather-resistant plywood and comes with a mounting bracket for easy installation on poles, barns, trees or sheds.

To help replicate natural nesting conditions, line the base with wood chips or shredded bark. Avoid sawdust or soil, which can block drainage.

This box is also suitable for use in mixed owl and kestrel habitat areas.

Ideal height: Mount at least 5 metres high, facing south-east with a clear flight path.
